Bespoke designs created for you

All of our designs are bespoke, created by our talented 'in house' architectural design team. This enables us to approach each project with sensitivity, individuality and flexibility.

Our aim is to design a building that encapsulates all of your wishes - and achieves a successful planning application - whilst meeting and exceeding all industry standards for a price you are comfortable with.

We strive to design buildings that are beautiful, sustainable and exciting - guiding you towards possible details and features - using our world renowned experience of both design and construction to deliver exceptional structures.

We have a dedicated architectural design studio - who are multi-disciplined, knowledgeable and experienced. This team is headed by qualified architects who have, over 4 decades, designed thousands of oak framed buildings - making Border Oak the most experienced oak frame designer/makers in the world.

The Border Oak Architectural Team work closely alongside our Technical Design Team, to ensure that what is drawn can actually be built - to the highest possible standards. An integrated design approach throughout any project is a fundamental advantage, but we are also happy to work alongside external architects and designers should you wish. We can be consulted at an early stage - so that our experience can enrich your project.

Our designers remain available throughout the build process - not only to the client, but also to our (wonderful) builders and Project Managers; enabling us all to benefit from a combined wealth of knowledge.

The Border Oak design ethos

We aim to design & build beautiful oak framed structures - both traditional and contemporary. We strive to avoid gimmicks and passing fads, preferring to ensure that green oak framing continues to make a positive contribution to each location and the architectural narrative. Our design ethos is always client & location led - responsive, sensitive and achievable. We trust in vernacular scale, detail, materials and proportion - but look for opportunities to reinterpret and innovate where needed. We believe our buildings should hold a sense of longevity; mellowing with age and becoming stronger with each passing season.
